This kit lets you convert your 14 or 16 pin parallel interface LCD display into a two wire I2C display. This is a great way to save those pins for other tasks when your project needs an LCD display. It also allows for up to five button inputs though the I2C Interface! Your microprocessor initializes and controls the display.
The kit includes PCB, the MCP23017 Port Expander, resistors, dip switch, IC socket and the potentiometer. (Resistor R4 for LCD back light current limiting is not included. Install the value required for your display if it has back lighting.)
This kit does not come with pin headers. Your LCD display may already have pins. You can also use female headers on the I2C Interface and male pin headers on your LCD display, this way the LCD and interface board can be disconnected easily. Both male and female pin headers are available in the prototyping section.
