Description: The SPLixel Strip-8 is a set of eight WS2812B individually addressable LEDs mounted onto a PCB. The the entire strip is almost 4" long. WS2812B LEDs are very colourful and very powerful! In fact, we'd say they are our favorite LEDs. To control them, they do require very specific signals with very specific timing. To drive them without re-inventing the wheel on your own, there are some WS281x libraries around that you can use with an Arduino, and also our own SPLixel Basic LED driver.
A SPLixel-8 Strip is fun on it's own. Feel free to get creative with your project. We designed the SPLixel Strip-8 so that the LEDs can be evenly spaced vertically and horizontally. The LEDs are set along the length of the PCB at 1/2" intervals. The two ends of the PCB are cut a little short, so that if you stack two together the LEDs can still be at an exact 1/2" spacing. The same goes for spacing them horizontally, as the boards are made thin enough to get the LEDs 1/2" apart.
At both ends of the SPLixel Strip there are three 0.1" spaced (breadboard friendly) holes where you can solder pin headers or wires. Common on both ends are the pins for +5v and ground. One data-in pin on one end and a data out pin on the other. This way you can chain them together to make longer strips.
